MELECON is one of the flagship conferences of IEEE Region 8 and will be held in New Cairo, Egypt on 2-4 February 2026, supported by the IEEE Egypt Section. IEEE MELECON 2026 is a major international forum presenting design methodologies, techniques, and experimental results in emerging electro-technologies. It is one of the flagship conferences of the IEEE Region 8 (the largest region of IEEE including Europe, Africa, and the Middle East). It is expected to bring together researchers and practitioners from different fields of Electrical Engineering. GENERAL CHAIRS

Prof. Reem Bahgat President, Egypt University of Informatics (EUI)

Prof. Reem Bahgat serves as the President of Egypt University of Informatics (EUI) and is a Faculty Member at Cairo University. She holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Imperial College London. Prof. Bahgat has held various leadership positions, including Director of the Egyptian Bureau for Cultural and Educational Affairs in the UK, Assistant to Cairo University President for Informatics and Information Technology, and Dean of the Faculty of Computers and Information. She co-founded and served as Deputy Director of CULTNAT, and is currently an Advisor to the Minister of Communications and Information Technology.

Prof. Amr Adly
President, Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology (E-JUST)

Prof. Amr Adly serves as the President of Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology (E-JUST) and is a Professor of Electrical Engineering at Cairo University. He holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maryland, USA, and has contributed extensively to the field, authoring over 135 research papers and holding a U.S. patent. Prof. Adly is an IEEE Fellow and the Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Transactions on Magnetics. His distinguished career includes roles as Egypt’s Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Cairo University’s Vice President for Graduate Studies, and the Executive Director of Egypt’s Science and Technology Development Fund. His accolades include Egypt’s First Class Medal of Science and Arts, the University of Maryland Distinguished Alumni Award, and the Shoman Foundation Arab Scientist Prize.

Prof. Ahmed Madian
Professor, Director of Electronics and Computer Engineering Program, Nile University

Prof. Ahmed Madian is a Professor and Program Director of Electronics and Computer Engineering at Nile University, on leave from the Egyptian Atomic Energy Authority. With over 190 publications, Prof. Madian has held leadership roles, including Director of the Nanoelectronics Integrated System Design Research Center and the Microelectronics System Design Master’s Program. A Senior IEEE member and Chair of the IEEE Egypt Section, he has actively contributed to IEEE through various roles, including conference coordination and technical program committees. He is also a member of the National Radio Science Committee and the ASRT’s Information Technology Council, overseeing key research initiatives and promoting proposal writing and fundraising activities.

Prof. Ahmed Hassan Yousef
President, ElSewedy University of Technology

Prof. Ahmed Hassan Yousef is the President of ElSewedy University of Technology and a Computer Engineering Professor at Ain Shams University. He chairs the National Committee of Information and Communication Technology at the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology. A dedicated IEEE volunteer, Prof. Yousef has served in numerous roles across IEEE Region 8, the IEEE Computer Society, and the IEEE Systems Council, including as the past chair of the IEEE Egypt Section. His research focuses on software engineering, informatics, high-performance computing, and natural language processing.
